BURLINGTON AREA YMCA
Together, we can create a better us.
Dear Burlington Y supporter,
When you provide financial support to your YMCA, you strengthen our community and move us all forward. As a leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, your Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in the greater Burlington area through:
Providing healthy living opportunities for youth & adults (32% of Des Moines County Adults are obese & 27% of our community –including youth- are inactive).
Membership and program assistance allowing families in financial need to come to the Y to participate in safe, fun activities that nurture our youth and families and to create a positive environment (25% of Des Moines County families are in poverty).
Providing access for women and children to seek safe emergency shelter from domestic violence and sexual assault (only emergency shelter of its kind within a 50 mile radius).
At the Y, no child, family or adult is turned away. We recognize that for our community to succeed, everyone must have the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. Your YMCA is responding to those challenges through prevention programming, offering financial assistance for membership and programs, and emergency shelter. We estimate that the total funded costs for this response for 2016 will be $144,840 and the unfunded need will be $70,514.
We need your continued financial support to address the issues that concern our community. Every dollar donated stays local and has a lasting impact on the people in our community. All donors will be recognized through various publications.
STORY OF IMPACT:
“I live in a bad neighborhood which is unsafe for my children to play outside. I am thankful that the Y has so much to offer my boys in a safe, positive environment. The boys especially enjoy going to the Friday Night Youth Night program, participating in youth sports and going swimming. I don’t know what I would do without the Y!”
